OVERVIEW The Compaq 56K Modem + 10/100 Ethernet Combo PC Card is Compaq's new affordable worldwide FAX/Modem/Ethernet NIC solution for portable PC users. This single-slot, easy-to-use, multi-function card provides fast access to the Internet via modem and to the corporate office network via a Fast Ethernet or Ethernet connection. Several features are included to make this combo product easy to use: Installation is easy with Plug and Play capability supporting Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 3.x, and Microsoft LAN Manager. World travelers can now use the country select software to simplify modem configuration while on the road. Users who need to connect to Ethernet or Fast Ethernet merely plug into the network, and the integrated network interface controller senses automatically if it is a 10 Mb/s or a 100 Mb/s network, and adjusts accordingly. Performance 56Kb/s Technology (K56flex) The Compaq 56K Modem + 10/100 Ethernet Combo PC Card delivers modem speeds up to 56 Kb/s using K56flex technology, and will be flash ROM upgradable to the final ITU 56K standard V.90 when it becomes available. The modem is also upgradable to support GSM and cellular connections. Ethernet Connectivity Supports both 10Base-T and 100Base-TX networks via a 16-bit, Type II PCMCIA card Fax Emulation Sends and receives faxes from the laptop at speeds up to 14.4 Kb/s.
