connections to the Internet and remote network access, as well as desktop fax capabilities, for small enterprises and corporate international users in a
sleek new "Locate Anywhere" design.
OVERVIEW
The Compaq 56K USB Fax Modem gives users V.90 and K56Flex technology for high-speed analog connections to the Internet and their corporate
networks, and complete faxing capabilities, in up to thirty countries. (Note: Please see Compaq website at www.compaq.com for details which countries
are covered by this product.) This modem gives small business and multinational corporate users the latest USB technology for complete ease of use in
sleek new "Locate Anywhere" design to economize desk space in any work environment. This globally approved, universal design provides a one-modem
solution for multinational corporations, which minimize support issues and costs, and simplifies record keeping and device tracking.
USB Technology
The 56K USB Fax Modem delivers uncompromising ease-of-use through its simplified USB port functionality. This user-friendly USB technology provides
quick; "hot swappable" Plug and Play installation without an extra power cord. Users connect the modem directly to the PCs with one cable. What's more,
the USB modem is capable of faster modem to PC throughout then serial modems. Further, it's fully compatible with monitors and other devices that offer
USB connectivity.
V.90 and K56Flex Technology
The 56K USB Fax Modem comes pre-loaded with both V.90 and K56Flex technology. When making an Internet or corporate network connection, the
modem auto-configures to the appropriate 56K technology to match the equipment at the other end of the line. This gives users seamless, smooth analog
connections, as well as the maximum opportunity to connect at 56K. This high-speed flexibility improves users' access to large, graphic-intense files and
decreases file download times. This unit is also compatible with all slower modem protocols.
"Locate Anywhere" Design
The 56K USB Fax Modem's unique, new space-saving design allows users to place it almost anywhere in their work environments, with full access to
LEDs. Unlike other modem designs, this adapter's "Locate Anywhere" design provides the flexibility to position the unit horizontally or vertically on the
desktop, behind the keyboard, mounted on the wall, or mounted on the side of the PC monitor. This ensures minimum space requirements, while
delivering maximum functionality.
Global Approval
The 56K USB Fax Modem's universal design and global approval allows companies to use a single modem design in up to thirty countries2, which
decreases support issues and device tracking, while increasing global functionality.
V.90 Indicator Light
A special indicator light on the 56K USB Fax Modem's LEDs display shows users when the modem has made a V.90 connection to another V.90 device.

The 56K USB Fax Modem facilitates easy performance enhancements, future proofing, and service updates.
Desktop Fax
The 56K USB Fax Modem sends and receives faxes at speeds up to 14.4 Kbps directly from users' desktop PCs.
