OVERVIEW
The Compaq 56K CompactFlash (CF) Fax Modem is electrically and functionally the equivalent of a PCMCIA card, but is only about one-third the size,
making it the ideal expansion solution for palm-size and handheld PCs. Moreover, it adds little weight to the unit (1/3 ounce or 8 grams) is less expensive
to produce, and has minimal impact on the size of the unit, because it slides into the existing expansion slot. Compaq offers its own CF enhancements for
modem and memory upgrade.
Note: The V.90 and K56Flex protocols are designed only to allow faster downloads from V.90- and K56Flex-compliant digital sources. Maximum
achievable download transmission rates may not reach 56 Kbps and will vary with line conditions.
Performance and Reliability
V.90 and K56Flex Technology
The Compaq 56K CompactFlash Fax Modem comes loaded with both V.90 and K56Flex technology. When making an Internet connection, the modem
auto-configures to the appropriate technology. This gives users a seamless, smooth operation, as well as an optimal opportunity to connect up to 56
Kbps while using their Compaq Aero.
Low Power Consumption
With the auto sleep and wakeup modes, the Compaq 56K CompactFlash Fax Modem uses little power, which extends the Compaq Aero's battery life.
Fast and Reliable Faxes
The Compaq 56K CompactFlash Fax Modem enables a user to send and receive faxes at speeds of up to 14.4Kbps, directly from the Compaq Aero
1500 or 2100 while on the road.
Error Connection Protection
The Compaq 56K CompactFlash Fax Modem also includes MNP 10 to allow error-free connection protocols, providing high-throughput modem
connections during adverse line conditions, which is essential for domestic and international communication.
Plug-and-Play Installation and Hot Swapping
The Compaq 56K CompactFlash Fax Modem is one of the easiest modems to install. Simply insert the modem into the CompactFlash slot of the
Compaq Aero, and it's ready to access the Internet, and send and receive e-mails and faxes. Hot Swapping gives the freedom of inserting or removing
the modem while the power remains on.
Note: The V.90 and K56Flex protocols are designed only to allow faster downloads from V.90- and K56Flex-compliant digital sources. Maximum
achievable download transmission rates may not reach 56 Kbps and will vary with line conditions.
