If you are using the Compaq NC3163 Fast Ethernet NIC
Embedded 10/100 WOL on a ProLiant DL360 server and you do not plan to
use the SmartStart installation process to set up your server, you must install
updated support software for your controller to connect properly to the
network. Your server must have certain device drivers to operate under the
SCO UnixWare 7.1.1 operating system. Drivers that are not bundled with
SCO's shipping media are located on the Compaq SmartStart and Support
Software CD. There are three methods for installing the SCO operating system
onto your server.
An integrated Compaq SmartStart installation is available to assist you with
installation of your server by automatically creating the Compaq System
Partition with tools to help configure and diagnose your server. The Compaq
SmartStart and Support Software CD also includes all the SCO UNIX device
drivers for your system.
Alternatively, selecting the Manual Path after starting the Compaq SmartStart
and Support Software CD automatically creates the Compaq System Partition

A third method is similar to the Manual Path method listed above; however,
you must run the Compaq System Configuration Utility to configure the
system, use the SmartStart and Support Software CD to create the EFS
diskettes for the SCO operating system release, and follow the manufacturer's
installation instructions. Once again, depending on the operating system, you
may need to use the Compaq Boot Time Loadable Drivers (BTLD) diskette or
the Compaq Host Bus Adapters (HBA) diskette along with the Compaq
Extended Feature Supplement (EFS) diskette to install all the driver support.
These utilities can be downloaded onto diskettes with tools available on the
Compaq SmartStart and Support Software CD.
To create utility diskettes, boot the Compaq SmartStart and Support Software
CD and follow the instructions to create Supplemental Support Software
diskettes. One of the diskettes on the Compaq EFS contains a bootable
documentation diskette. Before attempting to install the SCO UNIX software,
boot this diskette and read the README file for the Compaq EFS. This file
provides instructions for using the BTLD or HBA diskettes along with the

5. If the system does not complete the Power-On Self-Test (POST) or start
loading an operating system, refer to the "General Loose Connections"
section in the Compaq Servers Troubleshooting Guide.
6. If the server is power cycling, verify that the system is not rebooting
because of an Automatic Server Recovery-2 (ASR-2) reboot that is
caused by another problem. Refer to the Compaq Servers
Troubleshooting Guide for more information on this utility. Also refer to
the "System Short" section of that guide.
NOTE: When enabled, ASR-2 can restart your server and automatically load the operating
system. If a critical error occurs, ASR-2 logs the error in the Integrated Management Log
(IML) and restarts the server. Then, the system ROM pages the designated administrator
and executes the normal restart process.
7. Restart the server, and see "Normal Power-up Sequence" to verify that
your system starts correctly.
8. If by following these steps, you are unable to solve the problem, see
"Diagnosis Steps" later in this chapter to continue the troubleshooting
process.
