*Hardware Overview* The Intel PRO/100+ Management Adapter is a high
performance Ethernet adapter with a fully integrated
10BASE-T/100BASE-TX controller for PCI systems.
Also, the adapter supports emerging standards for
system manageability and power management, such as
Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)
v1.0 and Wired for Management (WfM) v2.0. This
adapter is based upon the Intel 82559 Ethernet
Controller with new features over the previous 82558
based products. One of the main new features is
Alert on LAN. Also, the adapter is PCI Rev. 2.2
compliant for 3.3 volt auxiliary power systems.
Typically, the 82559 based adapter consumes about
500m watts of power vs. 2 watts for the 82558 based
adapter.
