The TZS20 tape drive uses new, industry standard, technology developed by
Sony Corp. Though similar in characteristics to Exabyte's 8mm technology,
AIT technology has greater capacity in a smaller form factor. It is not read
or write compatible with Exabyte 8mm products. The drive achieves high data
reliability through read-after-write and an additional level of Error
Correction Code.

Servo tracking system uses embedded servo bursts for accurate
tracking and high-density recording
Tape encoding standard designed to optimize media and head
performance
Control system continually senses and adjusts tension
fluctuations, reducing wear to tape and head
The drive continually monitors contamination buildup and
automatically activates its patented active head cleaner to remove
contamination without host application or operator intervention
AIT incorporates IBM Advanced Lossless Data Compression (ALDC)
technology to provide compression efficiency greater than older IDRC and
DLZ algorithms
MTBF rated at 200,000 hours (20 percent duty cycle) and head
life rated at 30,000 hours of operation, ensuring long trouble-free
service life
