*Note 1: *The actual data capacities are dependent on the "compressibility" of the data *Note 2: *"Data Rate Matching" feature accommodates host speeds between 6 MB/s and 15 MB/s *Note 3:* In order to achieve performance expectations it is strongly recommended the server has RAID subsystems with minimum 200 MHz RAID controllers and a 6 disk array.
Description =========== The HP StorageWorks Ultrium 230 tape drive for ProLiant is an Ultrium (LTO - Linear Tape-Open) tape drive that has a 100 GB (200 GB - compressed) capacity and a 15.0 MB/sec (30.0 MB/sec - compressed) transfer rate. It is available in Full-height Internal, and External form factors. Ultrium 1 tape drive technology uses a linear format of 384 tracks, writing eight (8) tracks simultaneously. The data is written in a serpentine pattern; the tape reverses direction after each set of eight tracks is written. The Ultrium format is an open standard. Data written on HP StorageWorks Ultrium 230 tape drive for ProLiants can be interchanged directly with Ultrium 1 tape drives from other vendors. Features ======== Superior cartridge tape handling system Robust format with automatic data recovery that overcomes scratches and other vertical media problems High-performance "Data-Rate-Matching" that achieves faster access and fewer repositions LTO-CM - an intelligent memory chip embedded in the cartridge that holds positioning information to facilitate fast access to individual files and stores cartridge identification and usage information for automatic quality monitoring. Supports disaster recovery for easy restore from a hard drive failure Active Head Cleaning - provides an automated cleaning solution, increasing the head life and reducing the need for periodic cleaning Lowest media cost of any `superdrive' tape technology _Top of page_ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
