The unique design of the autoloader has the drive in the middle and the slots rotate around it like a carousel. The autoloader occupies two SCSI target addresses, one for the tape drive and the other for the autoloader robotics. The autoloader uses up to eight LTO Ultrium1 data cartridges, providing a maximum formatted capacity of 1.6 Terabytes (assuming 2:1 compression) and a sustained data transfer rate as high as 900 Megabytes per minute (assuming 2:1 compression).
