HP Serviceguard for Linux is a high availability solution that leverages the
strength of HP's experience in the HA business, bringing the best-in-class
mission critical HP-UX technologies to the Linux environment and ProLiant
servers. It provides critical applications the availability that enterprise
customers require for 24x7 business operations. It is designed to protect
applications from a wide variety of software and hardware failures,
monitoring the health of each server (node) and quickly responding to
failures including system processes, system memory, LAN media and adapters,
and application processes. Serviceguard for Linux enables customers to
cluster HP ProLiant server family of products (DL380 G2 and DL580 G2) with
shared storage from HP Smart Array Cluster Storage, HP StorageWorks Virtual
Array 7100, 7400 & 7410 and HP StorageWorks XP 48, 128, 512, 1024 in a
2-node SCSI (Red Hat 7.3) or 2 to 8-node Fibre Channel (Red Hat Advanced

Features

Greater protection over typical failover cluster configurations
- HP Serviceguard for Linux uses additional hardware paths and software
techniques to keep the application running on the same node and 'failing
over' to a new node as a last resort.
Eliminating the 'split brain syndrome' - Quorum service support
allows the use of an external server or PC to arbitrate in the event all
network connections between the cluster nodes fail.
Online Reconfiguration - Reconfigure cluster nodes and packages
and optimize the cluster without taking down the cluster. This allows
online package updates and hardware upgrades without taking the entire
cluster out of service.
Protection of existing storage environment - HP Serviceguard for
Linux uses the HP VA and XP storage that is in wide use, allowing cost
effective migration of HP-UX and Windows platforms to Linux high
availability solutions or integration into multi-OS SAN environments.
Graphical interface - HP Serviceguard Manager supports Linux and
HP-UX clusters on HP-UX, Linux or Microsoft Windows console.
Toolkits available for common applications - Simple script
templates are available at no cost designed specifically for widely used
applications like NFS, Samba, Apache and SendMail.
