_Top of page_ Description =========== SANworks Enterprise Volume Manager (EVM) is Web-based application software that manages controller-based clone and snapshot operations. EVM can be used to meet business continuance requirements by minimizing application downtime required for system backups and data migration activities. EVM automates the creation of command files that control the cloning or snapshot operation. EVM also allows mounting of the clone or snapshot on a second host on the same controller. The second host can then act as a dedicated backup server or data warehouse server. All operations are then done on the clone or snapshot, minimizing performance impact on the production system. In the case of backup, the backup window can now be expanded up to 24 hours. Version 2.0D of EVM comes with two software disks: EVM Server software and EVM host agent software. EVM Server software runs on the SANworks Management Appliance. The EVM host agent software runs on the users host computer systems that are a part of the EVM Network. The EVM Server software communicates with the agent software on the hosts to perform functions such as suspending and resuming database I/O and mounting clones and snapshots. Features ======== Supports VCS Version 2 with additional snapshot licenses. (Requires VCS snapshot license to do snapclones and snapshots) Management Appliance-based EVM Server architecture Support for up to 25 HSG80 array controller subsystems in a single EVM Network Ability to include storage from multiple subsystems in a single EVM job Support for unlimited EVM Agent host computers (formerly known as EVM Clients) Multi-threaded job engine that allows multiple jobs to be created and/or executed simultaneously Simplified installation process Host-centric storage views More flexible user interface for job creation Pre-defined job templates Support for source volumes containing multiple host partitions Advanced File System (AdvFS)/Logical Storage Manager (LSM) support Web-based log search tool EVM management capability from remote computers, with selected Web browsers Dynamic mounting, using Secure Path Windows LP952 adapter support Support for the latest (current) miniport driver Enhanced error logging _Top of page_ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
